l Riverview Elementary wants to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We know that many organizations are helping out by sending supplies and money to the Gulf area. Our school has decided to help those schools and school districts that were destroyed during the hurricane. We will be collecting books, book bags, school supplies and money. l Once phone lines are restored we are hoping to be able to adopt a school, similar to RVES in Mississippi, Louisiana or Alabama. If we are unable to adopt a school, supplies will be distributed to any school in need. Possible Donation Items: · Book bags · Crayons, markers, colored pencils · Books - new books & gently used books · Notebook paper · Pencils · Notebooks · Money · Antibacterial hand sanitizer · Scissors These are just a few examples. We will be collecting items from Sept. 13- Oct. 14. If our school can stuff 100 book bags full of school supplies, Office Depot on N. Tryon Street has agreed to match our 100 book bags full of school supplies! If you know any other business that would like to help us, please send a note to your child’s teacher.
