January PTO Minutes

Minutes of the Board of Directors Riverview Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization

Pursuant to proper notice, a meeting of the Board of Directors was held on January 10, 2006, Fort Mill, South Carolina. The following members of the board were present: Celia McCarter Amy Tassoul Charlotte Bowman Amy Redd Emelia Howell Leslie Eaton Jaime Walker Other persons present included the following: Stacey Johnson Dawn Weidman Denise Kugler Celia McCarter acted as chairperson and Leslie Eaton acted as secretary at the meeting. The items listed on the attached page were approved and upon motion, made and seconded. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

December minutes approved as submitted. New Business and Discussion Nomination committee chair needed to help fill next year’s PTO Board of Directors. Please contact Celia McCarter if interested. Special thanks to the following people for helping with the Fall Bookfair: Jaime Walker, Michele Reilly, Ginger Walker, Colleen Lanier, Kim Burris, Carolyn Little, Jill Marr, Dawn Weidman, Nancy Neal, Michelle Dean, Barbara Boyd, Nannette Cabel, and Darlene Kerr. Special Thanks to the following people who served at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Debbie Ferrell, Kay Arden, Beth Reigel, Dawn Weidman, and Barbara Boyd.

Financial Report Emelia passed out the treasury report. This included a summary of accounts and a balance sheet. She summarized it and answered any questions. The motion was made to add an account to the budget, #2375 Popcorn supplies account. A motion was also made to deposit $42.34 into the popcorn acct. Both motions were 2nd and carried. Emelia also needs a paper trail for the Shuttle Shops earnings.

Administration Scott Fratteroli thanked the PTO for the luncheon and the gifts in December. He also brought a request from a 5th grader who is interested in having a skate night at the Ice House in Pineville. This is being looked into. This week 2nd grade is doing MAP testing. January is School Board Appreciation month. Mrs. Chinchilla will find out what the school wants to do. The school wants to do a duty free lunch for teachers in January along w/ take out for teachers.

Volunteer Information Debbie Harris reminded everyone to leave outstanding hours by the volunteer computer.

Beautification No New Info.

School Spirit Ginger would like to do a popcorn party for the class w/ most participation on school spirit days each month. She also said that school spirit shirts are in. We have sold 45 out of the 100 that were ordered. Mrs. Wellons (pre-K) has requested 39 short sleeve shirts in gold w/ blue writing. This would cost approx. $300.00. PTO voted table this request until May, when we discuss the budget for next year. We want to accommodate her request but feel that in May we would have a better idea of our expendable income.

School Store No new info

Newsletter Charlotte Bowman is in charge of the newsletter. Contact her w/ any ideas, photos, or suggestions. Charlotte also said that we would be doing the Valentine messages again this year (deadline is Feb 3rd). She has also done a Blog for the Rocket Report. This will be mentioned in the next newsletter. Deadline for the newsletter is Feb. 6th.

Math Superstars No new info.

Fundraising Events/Rewards Fundraising Jaime Walker is planning to do the cookie dough sale again this Spring. The dates have not been set yet. We are also asking for ideas for next years fall fundraiser. Contact Jaime with any ideas. Scrapbook Ginger Walker is doing the scrapbook. Please contact her with suggestions.

Childcare Please try to let Katie Reilly or Celia McCarter know ahead if your child is coming.

Teachers Ms. Samples sent a Thank you to the PTO for the Christmas gift.

Yearbook If you are interested in doing a page for the yearbook, contact Charlotte Bowman.

Behavior Bucks Amy Tassoul said that the store is going well. They are looking for contact for donations or good deals on merchandise for the store. Contact Amy Tassoul or Tammy Caskey w/ info. She also said that there would not be popcorn at the store in January.
